Brunelleschi Pass: for climbers
The complete pass and the only way up the dome. The €35 includes your timed climbing slot (chosen at purchase) plus entry, within 3 days, to the bell tower, baptistery, crypt and museum. Run the numbers: climb the dome and visit just the baptistery and museum, and the pass has already paid for itself.
Its weakness is availability: dome slots sell out weeks ahead. When official dates are gone, the Tiqets fast track (€58) is often the last door still open.
Giotto Pass: the view without the slot
At €20, the Giotto Pass includes everything except the dome. Its ace is thebell tower: 414 steps with no timed slot — climb whenever you like within opening hours — and from the top you see what the dome can never show you: the dome itself. For many photographers it's the best buy in the complex.

Ghiberti Pass: art without the stairs
The €15 pass skips the climbs and goes straight for the ground-level masterpieces: the golden mosaics of the baptistery, thecrypt with Brunelleschi's tomb, and themuseum with the original Gates of Paradise, Donatello's Magdalene and Michelangelo's Pietà. Ideal with small children, summer heat, or knees that have opinions.
The Tiqets version (€31) adds an audio guide — most useful precisely at the museum, where context is half the value.

The classic mistakes (and how to dodge them)
- Giotto instead of Brunelleschi: the €15 saving evaporates when you learn there's no dome access — and no upgrade.
- Booking the dome slot last: pick the slot first, build the trip around it. Not the other way round.
- Wasting the 3 days: validity starts at first use — don't "activate" the pass for one monument at the end of your trip.
- Two climbs in one day: dome plus bell tower is 877 steps. Split them across days.
